A river of southern Brazil. It rises in the Serra do Mar in south-eastern Brazil and flows westwards for 1,300 km (800 miles) to the Paraná River, which it joins shortly below the Iguaçu Falls, a spectacular series of waterfalls. Spanish name Iguazú /ˌiɣwaˈsu/.
