Origin

Mid 16th century; earliest use found in Thomas Wilson (d. 1581), humanist and administrator. From post-classical Latin Eutopia (T. More 1516: see note) from ancient Greek εὐ- + τόπος place + -ία, punningly after post-classical Latin Utopia utopia.
