  • Unpaid debts owed to the Crown, carried forward from previous years by the Exchequer, and placed in the hands of the incoming sheriff for collection; (also) gifts or offerings made to the monarch by a subject or subjects, especially in return for favours. Now only in "Oblata Roll"noun an exchequer roll containing a record of the oblata; see also Oblate Roll, fine roll; usually in plural.
