From Anglo-Norman puture, etc., right of foresters (and other local officials) to claim food, drink, and sometimes lodging, provisions claimed in this way from post-classical Latin pultura allowance of food, also (after French) potura, putura, poutura from classical Latin pult-, puls + -ūra.
