The first McDonald's restaurant was founded in 1948 in San Bernardino, California, by Maurice (‘Mac’) McDonald and Richard (‘Dick’) McDonald, U.S. restaurateurs. In 1954, franchise rights were bought by Raymond Albert Kroc, U.S. entrepreneur, who founded the corporation in 1955.
