(1885–1952), US psychoanalyst; born in Germany; full name Karen Danielsen Horney. Expelled from the New York Psychoanalytic Institute for her critique of Freudian practices 1941, she was the founder of the Association for Advancement of Psychoanalysis and the American Institute for Psychoanalysis that same year.
